POLICE are appealing for information after a series of thefts from offices in Bidford and surrounding area by thieves posing as window cleaners.
The offences have been taking place between noon and 2pm on weekdays. The offender walks into an office carrying a window-cleaning cloth and if unchallenged steals purses, laptops, mobile phones and other valuables.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the offences, which have been carried out in across three counties, but North Worcestershire Police are still keen to hear from anyone else who may have been a victim.
Detective Sgt. Dean Jones said: "As well as appealing for information on these incidents we also want to want people to be vigilant to this type of offence.
"If you see someone in your office that you do not recognise do check they have a genuine reason for being there.
"And do look after your personal property while you are at work, taking particular care when you are away from your desk over the lunch-time period. Lock your valuables in a drawer if you are able to do so, otherwise keep your bag, wallet, mobile phone etc with you at all times.
"We know that this type of offender takes the opportunity where he sees it, walking into buildings without being challenged and helping himself to other people'' belongings. Our advice is to be aware that bogus window cleaners have been operating in your area and to be alert yourself."
Anyone with information can contact DS Jones on 0845 444888 or Crimestoppers in 0800 555111.
