THE win against Leeds was a crucial result for us and keeps us in the right half of the table and in touch with everybody.

The biggest positive we can take out of it is that we got the win and other results went our way.

But we can only improve on what we did.

Leeds came at us and had every intention of throwing the kitchen sink at us. I thought the guys stood up and put their bodies on the line.

But we've got to improve our performances. We've got to play a bit more rugby, keep our discipline, and make sure we don't let sides off the hook by giving away silly penalties.

After going through the video I noticed numerous occasions where, if we had just turned the screw, we could have put the game out of sight and got an extra point, which would have made a huge difference.

We've just got to improve our discipline and improve our execution. We're not far away now.

It's a focus issue. You've got to be thinking about the right things and you've got to be thinking about the process.

And I think from a mental point of view, when things go wrong, you tend to be thinking about something just ahead -- something five minutes from now or ten minutes from now, or even the result. It's crucial in rugby because it is such a fast-moving sport that you only think about the process.

I call it staying in the moment and in rugby you must stay in the moment for 80 minutes.

So far we've lost one, drawn one and won three times. We would have taken that at the start, given some of the opposition we've played.

We've got two European games now and there is a big carrot of Heineken Cup at the end of it. Other than winning the league, European rugby is probably the next goal, so it is massively important that we play these two games and then re-focus on the league.

European rugby is quite exciting really. You are playing against foreign opposition. You get to travel a bit and it's a different brand of rugby. French sides are always very physical and very committed.

This weekend against Montpellier will be a good test for us and a good opportunity to put the little things right.

Tom Harding signed this week and he sounds exciting. I don't know a huge amount about him but he sounds like a quality player and that is the sort of player we need.

The back row is an important part of the pitch. Back-rowers get through a lot of work and take a lot of punishment. It's very rare that you go through a season without back-rowers getting injured.

Wasps have got four or five excellent back-rowers all of international quality. Saracens have got four internationally capped back-rowers.

Then you look at Leicester -- one year they had Josh Kronfeld, Neil Back and Lewis Moody who were arguably three of the best number sevens in the world at that time.

With a bigger squad it gives us the chance to rest players and keep players fit.

Having said that, when I didn't play against Leicester two weeks ago I was walking around the house like a bear with a sore head.

You want to be out there with the boys the whole time. It is a job but there's nothing I'd rather be doing. I love playing rugby.
