AN £80,000 improvement scheme to give Kidderminster youngsters a safer route to Comberton first and middle schools has been welcomed.
Work has started on a pelican crossing on Comberton Road between Borrington Road and Comberton Park Road.
The scheme also involves the realignment of the junction to Barnetts Lane to improve visibility and providing bollards and dropped kerbs at the junctions of Chaddesley Road and Somerleyton Avenue.
Liberal county and district councillor Mike Oborski, who is a governor of both schools, said: "This is a step forward in making the school journey as safe as possible."
