AN Asian taxi driver was attacked and racially abused by two men outside Rocklands Social Club in Headless Cross.
The driver turned up to collect a fare outside the Birchfield Road club at midnight on Sunday, October 9.
While he was waiting, two men approached the taxi but were told it had been pre-booked.
They shouted racial abuse at the driver and left. A few minutes later, the driver picked up the pre-booked passengers and started to pull away.
As he did so, the two men returned and one of them started kicking the taxi. The driver got out and the pair assaulted him.
Both attackers were white and were wearing white shirts and black trousers.
One was about 6ft tall and bald and the other had spiky hair.
PC Simon Lammas said: "Fortunately, the driver suffered only minor injuries but the impact of this type of incident cannot be underestimated.
"We're keen to identify those responsible and are appealing to anyone who was at the Rocklands club that evening from late on Saturday, October 8, until after midnight to get in touch if they have any information.
"We also want to talk to the passengers who had pre-booked the taxi as they're likely to be important witnesses."
Anyone with information can call PC Lammas on 08457 444 888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
