ANGLING: The nine local teams competing in this years Redditch Business Houses angling match found the Avon at Evesham a very difficult proposition on a river chilled by midweek rain.
The experienced Studley Rd New squad took the honours with a 37pt tally to just pip Stride Supplies by one point with the Hymatic AC (33) outfit in third place ahead of Sainsbury's, HDA and Studley Rd Old all tied on 31.
Hymatic's John Oldfield managed to winkle out three good chub plus a few smaller samples on waggler and feeder fished maggots from his peg just below the Isbourne for a 7lb 10oz top individual catch.
Pete Rose (HDA-Mettis) was runner-up with a wagglered 4lb 11oz return with Pete Lewis (Studley Rd New) third with 4lb 7oz of roach on the hemp, and Alan Knight Hymatic, who included the heaviest fish of the day, a pike of 3lb 9oz in his fourth placed bag.
Many thanks from the organisers to all who took part in this years match the 58th time the competition has been run, making it one of the oldest events in the local sporting calendar.
