BROMSGROVE continued their goal-laden form in the Coaching Solutions West Midlands Division One by trouncing ragged Rugeley on Saturday. KEEPING IT TIGHT: A Bromsgrove player (red) marks a Rugeley man.

So far this season Bromsgrove have been involved in high-scoring matches and Saturday's match was no different as they battered Rugeley with a blistering first half performance.

Bromsgrove were in control throughout the game and streaked into a commanding 6-2 lead by half time.

Captain Julian Court was pleased with his side's performance after they had bounced back from last week's defeat to Whitchurch.

He said: "We've been passing the ball really well and our finishing was also really excellent.

"We let a couple of sloppy goals in, which was a shame because we totally controlled the game."

Mark Robinson put his side ahead in the opening minutes when he was on hand to score after a flowing Bromsgrove move.

Rugeley though replied instantly to level the scores.

However, Bromsgrove were in potent mood and were not about to be denied.

Control

Two goals by Pete Hull put Bromsgrove in control of the game.

Tom Green added a fourth, before Rugeley kept their hopes alive by making it 4-2.

Ruthlessly the home side had Paul Yates and Alan Henderson score, to ensure that Bromsgrove went into the second half with a 6-2 advantage.

Clive Russell added the seventh goal and Bromsgrove could even afford to miss a penalty as they strode to victory.

Court said: "We had about 80 per-cent possession and Rugeley had no answer to our play.

"We've got plenty of goals in the side and hopefully they will keep coming."

Bromsgrove will be missing a host of players for Saturday's game away at struggling Stafford.

Yates, Nick Frizzell, Henderson and Ben Husbands all miss the match because of holiday and work commitments.

The Boars will be hoping to pile the misery on Stafford, who suffered a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Leamington.

Court said: "Stafford have not had the best start to the season, so hopefully we can go there and get maximum points.

"We're missing a few players, but we have enough depth to cope with those who are absent."
