I WAS unfortunate enough to have been admitted into the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, recently on a Thursday evening through the A&E Department.

I was taken to ward 14 which, as anyone would know that has been on there, is a gynaecology ward.

I was horrified to learn from the nurses on duty that as from April next year there will be no gynaecology ward or obstetrics, peadiatrics, or A&E, as they are all moving to Worcester.

What on earth is this health service coming to?

I have recieved a letter from our local MP, Julie Kirkbride, as I e-mailed her my concerns and she has confirmed this to be happening in the hopes that it saves £20m to £30m . At a price for Bromsgrove and Redditch people.

I know if I had to travel to Worcester on that Thursday evening I would of been a lot more poorly than I was. My daughter gave birth to my grandson in January at the Alex and the thought that we will have to travel all the way to Worcester for these facilities is disgusting.

No wonder we have a nursing shortage when our nurses are treated in this way.

I think the trust needs to pull it's finger out and start serving the community instead of cutting costs.
