REDDITCH were today due to discover who they will face in Round Three of the Powergen Junior Vase after they stunned higher division visitors Burntwood on Saturday.
The visitors, who play the equivalent of a division up from Redditch were sent packing 23-11 at the weekend despite leading 3-0 at half time.
A first-half penalty was all that divided the sides in a tight opening half, the hosts paying the price for an offside call.
But Stan Hull's side found their rhythm in the second period and had their noses in front when number eight Phil Goddard intercepted and crossed and inside centre Jamie Rodden converted from the right-hand side just outside the 22.
A Rodden drop goal from a similar distance increased the hosts' lead and the game was all but wrapped up when outside centre Stewart Medway capitalised on another wayward Burntwood pass to cross under the posts, Rodden converting.
And when scrum-half Neil Hodgkins weaved his way through the visiting defence to score in the left-hand corner, Burntwood were reeling and could come up with only a consolation effort four minutes from time.
The only matter of concern for Hull was the forced retirement of Wil Wilson with a recurrence of his hamstring injury. The change paved the way for scorer Medway to enter the fray and Wilson will play in the North Midlands One South league clash at home to league leaders Upton before being rested for the friendlies which follow.
Hull hopes to have a full strength squad for Saturday's game (ko 3pm).
