WM school sevens
THE most talented schools rugby sevens teams in the country converged on Hopwood this week.
Kings Norton and Five Ways Old Edwardians Rugby Clubs hosted the West Midlands School Sevens finals yesterday.
More than 1,000 Under-16 players - boys and girls - have taken part in a series of regional qualifying competitions to produce the finalists for the popular annual event, sponsored by the Army.
They competed in pool competitions to produce the four semi-finalists.
Matches were split between pitches at the neighbouring clubs and there was an Army display area at Kings Norton RFC.
Qualifying schools; Boys: Belvedere School and Grove School (both Shropshire), Kings Norton Boys and Arthur Terry (both Birmingham and the Black Country), King Edward VI, Lichfield and Madeley HS (Staffordshire), North Bromsgrove HS and South Bromsgrove HS (Worcestershire) plus two schools to be advised from Warwickshire.
Girls: Church Stretton School and Belvedere School (Shropshire), Park Hall School and Arthur Terry School (both Birmingham and the Black Country), King Edward VI, Lichfield and De Ferrers School (both Staffordshire), Bewdley HS and Blessed William Howard HS (both Staffordshire) plus two schools to be advised from Warwickshire.
