The canine society is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and the third show of the series was held on September 24 at All Saints' Church Hall, Burcot Lane.
This was judged by Jeff Luscott, from Cheltenham, and the 98 dogs entered made it an excellent turnout for the last show of the year.
Best in show went to Mrs H Barns' black cocker spaniel, from Chase Terrace, Staffs. Reserve best in show was Mrs S Wilkes' Lhasa Apso bitch, who attends our ringcraft section, as does the winner of best puppy - Mr M Caple's beagle dog, from Redditch. Reserve best puppy was Mrs Parson's and McKinnon's deerhound bitch.
Other Bromsgrove winners were as follows: Mrs and Miss Beston's clumber spaniel - third gundog open; Mrs J Carthen's gordon setter - second setter/pointer. First not bred by exhibitor; Mrs Noakes' English toy terrier - second toy open; Miss P Smith's miniature poodle - first maiden/third novice. The last event to celebrate our 70th anniversary will be our Christmas match meeting - all members welcome.
Our next show will be held on Saturday, February 4. The judge will be Allan Taylor.
Anyone wishing to train their dogs for the showring is welcome to attend our classes which are held on Wednesdays at 8pm at All Saints' Church Hall, Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove. For more details about the club contact Di Morgan on 0121 445 3595 or Jackie Holland on 01905 775396.
