BROMSGROVE workers are being warned by police to be vigilant after a series of distraction burglaries.
The offences, which mostly occur between midday and 2pm on weekdays, involve an offender posing as a window cleaner.
He walks into offices and other premises carrying a window cleaning cloth and if left unchallenged steals purses, laptops, mobile phones and other valuables left unattended.
Det Sgt Dean Jones, from Bromsgrove police, said: "We have arrested two men in connection with these burglaries, but our inquires are on-going. We would like to speak to anyone who believes they may have been a victim."
Police have had reports of these types of incident taking place in various locations, including Bromsgrove.
Det Sgt Jones said they also wanted to warn people to be vigilant for this type of offence.
"If you see someone in your office that you do not recognise, do check they have a genuine reason for being there.
"Look after your personal property while you are at work, taking particular care when you are away from your desk over the lunchtime period. Lock your valuables in a drawer if you are able to, otherwise keep your bag, wallet and mobile phone with you at all times."
He said they knew this type of offender took opportunities where they saw it, walking into buildings unchallenged and helping themselves to other people's belongings.
Anyone with information should contact police on 08457 444888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
