RESIDENTS in a hamlet near Inkberrow face a tense wait before planning chiefs will be able to decide the fate of controversial proposals for a permanent site for travelling showpeople.
Campaigners in Holb-errow Green opposed to the plans may have to wait until December before Wychavon District Coun-cil is able to make its decision.
The delay is while officers seek more information from applicants Countryman Fairs, which wants to turn a six-acre field bordering the B4092 and Morton Hall Lane into a base for travellers.
Council planning chief Robert Peal said more information including details of layout and surfacing of the proposed site was required before the matter could be discussed by members.
"We are also waiting for a report from the Highways Partnership regarding access to the site.
"It will not be discussed at the next planning meeting, but possibly one in November. It depends on whether we have all the information we need."
Residents launched the Holberrow Green Action Group (HGAG) when the application was first submitted. They have collected more than 1,000 signatures objecting to the proposals.
HGAG chairman Roger Fleury said: "The planners are in no doubt about the strength of local feeling and the many reasons why these proposals should be thrown out.
"We now have to wait the council's planning committee to determine the application. This won't happen until mid-November at the earliest, but when it does we are ready to swing into action and press home our case."
