THE true story of Domino Harvey must be what all Hollywood directors dream about.
Daughter of a model and a movie star, Domino enjoyed a British public school education, toyed with the catwalk, before moving to LA where she became a drug-abusing bounty hunter. You can't make up this kind of stuff...
So it is with great disappointment this film turned out to be such a monumental cock-up.
Director Tony Scott chooses style over substance, which is a great shame when the substance had such potential and the style chosen is so bad.
Aimed at the MTV generation with its hedonistic camera shots and explanatory subtitles, Domino manages not only to patronise its target audience but exclude anyone over the age of 25.
The film picks up with Domino (Keira Knightley) being interrogated by a cop (Lucy Liu) about how she became a bounty hunter wrapped up in a $10 million pay off.
And it's decidedly tedious, with virtually no reasoning for a girl like Domino ending up there at all.
Knightley is unsatisfactory in the title role. She is far more suited to milder roles as she is neither cool nor hard enough to play bounty hunting Domino.
However, the surgically enhanced Mickey Rourke is surprisingly watchable as Domino's mentor and there are a handful of other good performances which saves this film from being stuffed and served with cranberry sauce this Christmas.
