ARCHERS from far and wide converged on Prince Henry's High School last Sunday for the Evesham club's annual Stafford where junior and senior archers have to shoot six-dozen arrows over 30 metres at an 80cm face.
Club and county champion Linda Haines needed a couple of dozen arrows to get going but eventually won the Ladies Recurve Championship with 670 points, 21 ahead of Candy Schofield from Woking. In the men's Recurve, Evesham's Paul Stead and Mike Crayford both recorded personal bests but finished just outside the medals.
The performance of the day went to 12-year-old Evesham Junior Recurve archer Adam Stead who posted an outstanding score for his age of 584 points.
That was good enough to win his age group and also better all scores up to the under-16 competitors.
The Team award went to The Bowmen of Burleigh who beat Evesham trio Haines, Stead and Crayford by one point.
