BUCKETS and sponges were out in force at the weekend as charitable folk rolled up their sleeves to join a fund-raising car wash for the victims of the Kashmir earthquake.
The event, held at the community centre in Worcester's Stanley Road on Saturday, was organised by Asif Ali , of Redfern Avenue, Ronkswood, Worcester, on behalf of the city's Muslim Welfare Association.
The event raised a total of £642, with more than 100 people coming along, and six or so volunteers at the ready to leave cars gleaming.
It helped boost the association's charity appeal for the earthquake victims, which has seen them raise in excess of £40,000 in just over a week.
Mr Ali said: "There was a heck of a lot of community support and it was so busy that people who couldn't get their cars washed just came and gave money instead."
