STEVE Rhodes admits to feeling "proud" after being appointed Worcestershire's new Director of Cricket today.
Former New Road wicketkeeper Rho-des, who retired as a player in 2004, took over as head coach in June this year following the departure of Tom Moody to coach Sri Lanka.
His elevation to the directorship role was the unanimous view of the club's board last night. Rhodes said: "I feel proud to continue my association with Worcestershire as Director of Cricket and relish the challenges we have in store for us in 2006.
"I am full of optimism, not only for next year, but many years to come."
It was also confirmed that Vikram Solanki will continue as club captain in 2006.
