AFTER weeks of drought, Britain experiences the first real rains of the autumn. The result is flooding.
This is partly due, no doubt, to the water draining rapidly off rock-hard soil.
But the main culprit here must be concrete - or, more specifically, the covering of what was once soil with patios, car ports and so on.
When are we going to get it into our heads that flooding will only get worse and worse if we remove Nature's drainage - soil - at the present rate?
