YOUR leader (Thursday, October 6) wrote rather airily of "horny-handed sons of toil."
My late dad, Edgar Cowley, worked as a market garden labourer, yet you couldn't have met a better, more decent, honest, hard-working man than him.
He kept Tennyson's In Memoriam by his bedside till his dying day, aged 57. God rest his soul. He's already in heaven, with my mum.
GEORGE COWLEY,
Worcester.
