LITTLETON JUNIORS U16s,

MALVERN TOWN U16s 6

MALVERN Town U16s visited Littleton Juniors U16s for this Mercian Festival Junior League fixture.

Malvern started brightly with both Josh Brentnall and Kurt Doyle shooting wide following good build-up play. Littleton had their share of shots but it was Malvern who broke the deadlock on 12 minutes when a superb through ball from Joe Blain found Ryan Mansbridge who made no mistake and within a minute Malvern had doubled their lead with a goal from Josh Brentnall. Littleton battled hard but it was Malvern who had the upper hand with Mansbridge forcing good saves from the Littleton keeper. On 30 minutes a super cross from James Lush saw Mansbridge head against the cross-bar.

In the second-half Malvern put injury-hit Littleton under sustained pressure and in the 24th minute Jon Griffiths increased the lead to 0-3. Joe Blain's hard work and tireless running was rewarded with a goal on 29 minutes followed by James Lush on 30 minutes. Jon Griffiths wrapped up the game for Malvern on 38 minutes making the final score 0-6.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U14s 7,

HEADLESS CROSS 0

THE score line tells the story of an excellent team effort against a new U14 Mercian League side.

Asquith opened the Wanderers' account with a stunning volley from 20 metres after just ten minutes. Excellent midfield play from Mayo, Loader, Webb, Scullion and Asquith was rewarded with a goal from new signing Smith.

The second-half Wanderers midfield continued to outplay Headless Cross, who looked dangerous with a couple of good breaks. They remained determined to the end with a spirited fight however Wanderers' defence of Ball, Titmus and Renolds, Wanderers' new keeper, were more than a match for the away side.

Allmark scored a good goal from the left followed up by Smith who scored yet again going on to notch a hat-trick. Howie scored two goals in swift succession following speedy runs down the right flank.

BREDON COLTS 2,

NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS U15S 2

NEWTOWN Sports Colts had to come from two goals down to earn a share of the points when they visited Bredon last Sunday.

On a big pitch, Bredon started the game brightly and opened the scoring after five minutes when some hesitancy in the Colts defence allowed the Bredon striker to fire in a shot. Johnson did well to parry on to the post, but was unlucky to see it dribble across the line. Within 10 minutes the Colts were two down, after Morse inadvertently put in his own net. From then on the Colts took the game by the scruff of the neck, with Hale coming on for Elmes and linking up with Jaye, Allison, Edwards and Powell in midfield to set-up wave after wave of attacks. The goal eventually came, when Powell crossed the ball which ended up with Edwards, who poked the ball home.

In the second-half, the pattern of the game continued, with the Colts pressing for an equaliser. White, Budd and Caffull came on, as Crane, Allison and Hale all had great chances to equalise. When Budd missed the best chance, it seemed as though Bredon were destined to take the points, but he made amends by heading in from a Powell corner with 10 minutes left. Newell injected some pace for the Colts, but the final whistle came a little early, so the Colts had to settle for a draw.

NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS U13s 11,

SEVERN CITY U13s 0

NEWTOWN Sports started brightly and had the majority of the play, with fast attractive football.

This tempo was rewarded early in the first half when Morton ran on to the ball on the edge of the Severn City penalty and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net. This spurred the Juniors on and shortly after Turner broke into the City area and blasted the ball home to make it two. Newtown continued with their open attacking approach which led to Mallett finding the net, followed by a second for Turner and one for Roskams taking the Juniors in at half-time 5-0 up.

The second-half saw much of the same, but now Newtown had the wind behind them, which meant the Severn City defence was placed under constant pressure. On the odd occasion that the City attackers broke through the Newtown defence they found stand-in keeper Kyte on top form with a number of brave clearances and excellent handling. Further Newtown goals came from Watling, Bannister (three), one an unstoppable left foot volley, Turner got his hat-trick and Parker blasted in a free-kick into the top right hand corner.

Man of the match was Jac Crews.

NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS U12S 4,

LEIGH & Bransford BADGERS 1

NEWTOWN started the game well putting the Leigh & Bransford defence under pressure.

After five minutes following a good run by Tom Milner, Luke Stanton was on hand to score his first goal for the club with a well taken shot. Leigh & Bransford almost equalised but keeper James Merley made a fine save followed by a goal-line clearance to keep the scores level. Newtown were now beginning to enjoy a lot of possession and increased their lead when George Parsons fired home from a corner.Just before half-time Rowan Standish-Hayes put a fine ball through for Milner to run onto and and make it 3-0 with a well-placed shot.

The second-half saw Newtown under pressure but the defence of Alex McDonald, Marc Ziegler and Chris King looked solid although Leigh & Bransford scored from a free kick. Jacob Paisley was having a good game down the left side and put in numerous good crosses that Newtown were unable to convert. The Newtown pressure paid off when Bradley Heron hit a superb long range shot into the roof of the net to make it 4-1.

Newtown man of the match was Tom Milner.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS COLTS U11S 3, OMBERSLEY COLTS 0

THIS was a well-deserved win for the hard-working Wanderers side

In the first-half, spirited defence from Josh Lloyd, Nathan Bass and Max Howie overcame the visitors' efforts, and skilful attacking play resulted in great goals from Reece King and Brent Gibbs with speedy Joel Wright unlucky not to score.

In the second-half, Ombersley produced more powerful football and good goal keeping was needed, and produced, by Pete Shepherd. Myles Cunningham worked well with King and Stan Mason and Josh Seabourne was tireless, his efforts were rewarded with the third goal which sailed in over the keeper's head.

LEIGH & BRANSFORD BADGERS U10s 1, DROITWICH SPA AZTECS U10s 1

DROITWICH Aztecs took an early lead when they managed to bundle the ball over the line following a cross from the left.

Leigh & Bransford fought back and Charlie Wilce had another good game in midfield passing the ball around well and getting in some good tackles.

The second-half continued in the same way with the game flowing from one end to the other. Daniel Watson and Harry Twinbarrow slotted in to the midfield and helped create a number of chances. It was following a good through ball from Twinbarrow that the Badgers equalised, Daniel Roberts collected and shot through the goalkeeper's legs. Fred Van Vuren went close to getting the winner with a good shot well-saved by the goalkeeper. Nicholas Snowdon kept the scores level with a great save at full-stretch from a long range shot. Finley Gill and Fynn Page both contributed well.
