HEREFORD United coach John Trewick believes the Bulls have not done themselves justice in the Conference so far this season.
Graham Turner's side, losing play-off semi-finalists for the past two seasons, are currently 10th in the table, eight points behind leaders Grays Athletic.
They lost 2-1 at second-placed Accrington Stanley last Friday after conceding early in each half and drew 1-1 with Canvey Island at Edgar Street prior to that. But Trewick, speaking ahead of tomorrow's home match with Burton Albion, says past performances have merited a better league position, perhaps by as much as five points.
"We were very unlucky against Accrington," he said. "We were undone by a couple of set pieces.
"It was a solid performance against Accrington. We have not got as many points on the board as we would have liked but we have shot ourselves in the foot a little by conceding from set-pieces. On reflection, we deserve to have four or five more points on the table than we have and then we would be sitting just off the lead.
"The performance was decent and we can all take heart from that. We want to get three points against Burton."
Nigel Clough's Burton team, fourth-from-bottom in the table, are something of a bogey side for the Bulls who have picked up just one point from the last four encounters between the sides.
But, while respecting that and the dangers they will pose, Trewick is not concerning himself with the history and is taking the fixture at face value.
"It's one game," he said. "You can look at statistics and make a case for what you want but certainly we will not be taking them lightly.
"We will be aware of their record against the top teams in the division, including ourselves."
Striker Danny Carey-Bertram, top scorer this season with four goals, is expected to be included in the squad, despite picking up a hamstring strain after equalising against Accrington.
However, Guy Ipoua and Adam Stansfield are still missing, which opens the door for youngster Andy Williams to possibly make his full Conference debut.
Former youth teamer Williams, likened by fans as a younger version of namesake Gavin Williams, now on loan from West Ham at Swansea City, is a player Trewick thinks has done his case for a place no harm.
He added: "Andy has done well in his last couple of opportunities in the team. Whether or not he starts remains to be seen but what he has done is given people a little bit of food for thought."
