TOWN Reserves entertained Tenbury on Saturday in the West Midllands League division one and both sides put in a much better performance than the effort two weeks ago which resulted in a 1-1 draw.
MALVERN TOWN RES 5, TENBURY UNITED 4
Tenbury were first off the mark as their left winger and best player, found himself unmarked at the far post and he hammered the ball through keeper Tom Smith's legs.
Town equalised when a Lee Goodman corner was met by Mike Oakes and headed powerfully home.
Four minutes into the second-half and Tenbury took the lead once more as Malvern cleared the ball to the edge of their box, and it was returned with interest by Tenbury's number four through a crowd of players. Danny James fashioned a chance which was well saved by Tenbury's keeper. Oakes ever alert, reacted first, smashing the ball home to equalise
Town then exerted tremendous pressure and should have taken the lead when Des Cox missed from six yards out and this was surpassed as Sam Pallett side-footed over from close range.
Tenbury's luck finally gave way when Raj Sharma met a Lee Goodman cross and headed home from close range. Des Cox then went on one of his trademark maisey runs, firing goalward and watching his shot bounce off a defender into the back of the net.
Two minutes later Cox increased Town's lead with another goal to make it 5-2.
Town went to sleep for the last five minutes and allowed Tenbury to pull back two goals.
Town, who are sponsored by Laser Civil Engineering, had this week's match ball donated by Festival Housing.
