A CAT that survived the mean streets of New York has been shot in a village close to Tenbury Wells.
The cat, known as Mr Jeeves, was adopted by its owners from a cat rescue group in the Big Apple, and was attacked with an air rifle in St Michaels. He is now in danger of having his leg amputated.
His owner Sally Tallon said: "He survived the streets of New York and we moved back here in March only for him to get shot."
An examination of the three-year-old male revealed that he had been shot in the leg with an air pistol.
"There is a high chance that he will lose his leg as a result. We don't know what is happening yet but we should know within two weeks if he needs to have it amputated."
The injury occurred between Wednesday, October 5, and the following evening and it is thought the incident happened in some fields behind St Michaels' Village Hall.
Sally added: "We would like to appeal for information and to put out the message that this sort of attack is just not funny."
