Tramps' SUPPER: Saturday night's Tramps' Supper organised by the village's art group in aid of the village hall appeal proved to be a successful event, raising almost £300 for the fund. After the buffet supper, teams of four were formed to take part in a local quiz presented by the art club chairman, Alan Davies. Meanwhile, judging of the tramp costumes was taking place and the winner proved to be Ken Rowlands, a member of the art club, whose dress was so realistic that it was said he had had difficulty persuading the doorkeepers to let him into the hall.
The next event designed to swell the appeal fund will take place on Sunday, when Phil Bawn's Village Talent Show will be presented in the village hall at 7.30pm. Tickets at £6 per head, with £5 concessions, can be obtained from the Spar shop or from Phil on 870363,
THANKSGIVING SERVICE: The Service of Thanksgiving planned as the conclusion of St James's Church Building for the Future crusade is on Sunday, October 16 at 6.30pm, not as stated last week. There will be no morning service on that day.
