Stourport
STOURPORT men's firsts were pleased to come away with a 1-1 draw from Nottingham in National League North Division - because the East Midland club has not been a happy-hunting ground in recent years.
Imran Yousaf's goal from a short corner early in the second half was enough to earn a point, and although they spurned several chances to win the game, skipper Phil Lashford was still upbeat.
"A draw was probably a fair result because it was an even game," said Lashford.
"They started brightly, put us under pressure for the first 15 minutes and took the lead but from then on we defended brilliantly.
"We got the equaliser and could have won it but I can't remember us even getting a draw at Nottingham before so which everway you look at it its a positive result."
The draw continues a positive unbeaten start for relegated Stourport who hammered Harrogate 6-2 on the opening day of the season.
But they face a tough test keeping the short run going on Sunday when they travel to Leek, who have won both of their opening two games.
"It looks like we're going to have the harder games at the start of the season, so at least over the next month we should have a good idea of how we're going to do this season," added Lashford, who has everybody available for this weekend's match.
Stourport seconds suffered a 2-1 defeat at Loughborough Students despite taking an early lead.
Man of the match Ben Evertt-Li put them ahead with a deflection after good play from David Knott.
But despite solid defending from Stourport, a poor umpiring decision handed the Students an equaliser from a short corner four mnutes from time before they bagged a last gasp winner.
The seconds will be hoping to bounce back when they host Barford at 1pm on Saturday.
The thirds came close to holding Loughborough Students to a draw - only to eventually succumb to a 5-1 defeat.
Drawing 1-1 at half-time after Rob Lashford's goals, Stourport fancied their chances of a point against a weaker-than-usual Students side.
But the visitors had more substitutes and their fresh legs paid off as they ran riot in the final 15 minutes.
The thirds visit Birmingham University at 3pm on Saturday.
l Stourport fifths beat Bridgnorth 2-1 thanks to a double from David Potter.
The sixths suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Solihull-based Olton with Chris Tsang's penalty miss proving to be a turning point.
They take on Sutton Coldfield away at 12.30pm on Saturday.
Stourport sevenths only had eight or nine players and lost hevily at Worcester sixths after most of their squad members were called up for more senior sides.
They host Warwick fifths on Saturday.
Kidderminster
KIDDERMINSTER men's firsts played their part in a 10-goal thriller with Warwick - but were sadly on the wrong end of an 8-2 result.
They managed to go in front when Andy Pocknell slotted home the rebound from a short corner, although their joy was shortlived.
Warwick hit back with two goals and although Pocknell struck again to make it 2-2 that was where the game ended as an even contest.
The visitors regained the advantage and lead 3-2 at half time after Joe Sorrell blasted a good chance over when the ball bobbled.
In the second half, as Kidderminster went in search of an equaliser they left themselves cruelly exposed at the back.
It was one of those days when everything Warwick hit seemed to go in as the away side romped to an 8-2 win. Kidderminster have no time to feel sorry for themselves with Kings Heath - the side they defeated in a pre-season friendly - visiting on Saturday.
Kidderminster seconds went down to a 5-3 defeat at Warwick despite giving a good account of themselves.
Clive Link, Dan Mazurek and Craig Siwicki got the goals.
They visit North Stafford on Saturday.
The thirds were without a game after their scheduled home clash with Stone was called off.
Player of the match Mike Wakenshaw grabbed the only goal of the game as Kidderminster Fourths won 1-0 at Bromsgrove in the Fathoms League.
They created several chances to extend the lead with brothers Marcus and Andy Griffiths both going close.
Chaddesley Corbett
CHADDESLEY Corbett's flying start to the West Midlands Division Two season was brought down to earth with a bump as they crashed 7-0 at Pershore.
It was hard to take after their crushing 10-1 win over Malvern on the opening day.
They will be hoping to bounce back when they visit Kingswinford at 2.30pm on Saturday.
