KIDDERMINSTER decorator Gavin Daley brushed off the opposition by romping to victory in the first round of the of the National Winter League, held at the Bridgnorth fishery.
Daley, who is sponsored by angling bait company, SBS, in Dixon Street, caught carp up to 10lb, in his winning total of 111-0-0, from peg 32, on the Sycamore Pool.
He used strawberry jam flavouring, on his hookbait maggots and fished these over loosefed casters.
Daley and three other SBS sponsored anglers, Steve Harris, Mark Tooze, and Carl Daley, helped the Mosella Strike team to finish second on the day.
Thursday: Ralph Johnson (Middy ML) 97-4 (Chestnut 4, cast both sides, carp 9lb, bream 2lb), Ed Turner (OB) 94-12 (Chestnut 7, corn, maggot and pellet 5m and close, carp 9lb), Paul Cartwright (OB) 88-4 (Sycamore 39).
Saturday, 47: Scott Gener (Shimano Tipton) 82-14 (Sycamore 18, cast close, carp 8lb), Darren Randell (Shimano Tipton) 72-14 (Sycamore 8, 5mt and close, carp 9lb), Peter Plant (Shimano Tipton ) 59-1 (Chestnut 1).
Sunday, 27: Jason Elwell (Wednesbury) 90-9 (Oak 24, cast shallow, pellet side carp 8lb), Colin Reynolds (Bilston B&T) 57-9 (Oak 18, cast corn and pellets,side, carp to 7lb), Les Needle (OB) 48 (Oak 22).
