CHADDESLEY Corbett slipped down to fifth in West Midlands League division two after a frantic finish to their 3-2 defeat at Shenstone Pathfinders.

After twice finding themselves behind, Chaddesley got back on level terms on both occasions through Tony Vale and John Baker.

With the second equaliser coming just four minutes from time the Longmore men thought they had done enough to earn a share of the spoils.

But they reckoned without the fighting spirit of their unbeaten hosts who snatched victory right at the death with an injury-time winner.

Defeat was harsh on Chaddesley who saw debutant keeper Stuart Brooks, in for unavailable stopper Gary Moore, pull off a host of fine saves, including a penalty stop.

Despite the setback, manager Martin Westcott was proud of his players.

He said: "I asked for a big performance and we gave it.

"If I was critical, we could have made more use of the opportunities we had in attacking positions.

"I thought our goalkeeper, Stuart Brooks, was outstanding. We signed him at the last minute. He has played a couple of games for Bromsgrove Athletico".

Westcott has not ruled out further signings to keep Chaddesley's promotion push on track.

They will be hoping to bounce back when they host Penkridge Town at 2.45pm on Saturday with players to meet at Longmore for 1.30pm.
