COLOURFUL mosaic pieces created as part of a community arts project are on display in a Wolverley country park.
Eight adults with learning disabilities from the Wyre Forest area worked with Worcestershire Country Council's countryside service and Birmingham-based artist, Ellie Reynish, to produce a mural in Kingsford Forest Park.
It covers the wall of a toilet block in Kingsford Lane car park and the participants spent one day a week for five weeks during July and August making mosaic birds, using assorted materials.
The pieces, which were inspired by birds that can be found in the park, were placed on the branches of a tree, designed and painted on the wall by the council's countryside sites and marketing teams.
Inspiration for the project came from four new way-marked trails that have been created throughout the park to inform visitors about the birds that can be seen in the area.
Worcestershire County Council chairman, councillor Derek Prodger, unveiled the mural last Thursday.
Hema Kasi-Patel, community liaison officer, said: "What was a dull wall is now full of colour and I'm so pleased that the hard work of the group can be enjoyed by visitors to the park and I hope people come out to see the pieces. The scheme was very successful and has produced some very impressive results."
The project received funding from English Nature, the Big Lottery Fund and Worcestershire County Council's Corporate Equalities Board.
