READERS keen to get an early Christmas gift in the bag should pop along to the Shuttle Times and News offices in Kidderminster on Saturday.

Kidderminster Camera Club's centenary calendar will be on sale at an open morning between 10am and 1pm.

Visitors will be able to chat to club members who worked on the joint project with the Shuttle/Times & News and can also find out how to join the camera club.

Members will be on hand to give photography advice and will be happy to share useful tips on cameras and the wealth of technology now available to enthusiasts.

Club secretary, Maureen Mundon, said: "The calendar has been produced to celebrate our 100th year in 2006 and we are hoping it will generate new interest in the club and attract new members.

"We would welcome talking to anyone with an interest in photography or wishing to add to their knowledge or develop their skills."

She added: "People may be thinking of buying camera equipment for Christmas and we would be delighted if they come along to talk to us on Saturday."

The imaginative calendar charts some of the changes to Kidderminster's urban landscape by featuring archive photographs from each of the 10 decades since the club was formed in 1906.

It also features the skills of club members with images ranging from the delicate feathers of barn owls to the silky petals of pink roses and haunting mountain mist.

Photographs of these images will also be available to buy at Saturday's informal open morning at the Shuttle/Times and News offices in Blackwell Street when free tea and coffee will be available.

The calendar costs £7.50 and comes with a sturdy envelope to enable it to be posted to relatives and friends as a unique Christmas gift.
