A KIDDERMINSTER hairdresser has celebrated 40 years in the business and vowed to continue for many more.
Sue Kay, of Offmore Road, who owns Hairdos, held a week-long fund-raising campaign to mark her achievement.
Throughout the week, staff at the salon sold home-made cakes and ran a table top sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Mrs Kay said her customers were very supportive and helped to raise £156 for the charity.
She started hairdressing during a three-year apprenticeship at Kidderminster College when she was 15 and her first job was at Rita Coley's hairdressers in Cookley.
The 55-year-old, who worked in Cookley for eight years, later took up a position at Pam's Hair Stylist before moving to La Petite on Habberley Lane.
Thirteen years ago she bought Hairdos, in Offmore Road, which she now runs with five part-time staff.
She said the best part of her job was meeting people, adding: "I have made an awful lot of friends here. I think if you do your best for someone, you will get their loyalty back.
"I like it when someone comes in the salon and goes out feeling better.
"I want to keep working for as long as I can. I have no plans to retire yet."
