WORKERS at a Kidderminster hair salon dusted off their school uniforms to raise money for a child's physiotherapy treatment.

Staff at MV Hairdressing went back in time to help eight-year-old Jake Woodward, of Kidderminster, who has cerebral palsy.

Signs were placed in the windows of the Oxford Street salon to warn customers that it was not quite business as usual.

The fund-raisers got into the spirit of the occasion by bringing in packed lunches and the more disruptive were punished by being made to sit on a 'naughty step'.

One generous customer helped boost the total by donating £100 to see stylist, Ade Arnold, wear short trousers for the day.

The event, which also included a raffle, raised more than £600 to help Jake's family pay for treatment sessions.

Lisa Boddey, manager, said: "It really was a fantastic day and we all had such a laugh. I played the part of the headmistress."

Gail Woodward, Jake's mother, said: "We really do appreciate people making such an effort.

"It really is worthwhile because the treatment is working. The improvement has been amazing since he started the sessions."
