THE funeral of little Bethany Kerrell, who lost her fight for life last week, is to take place next week.

The family of the five-month-old, who was born chronically disabled with part of her chromosomes missing, is to hold a service at St Wulstan's Church, at 1.30pm on Tuesday, before burial at Astwood Cemetery.

Bethany was oxygen-dependent, had two small holes in her heart, was partially-blind and deaf and had muscles that were too weak.

The Worcester News had been charting the progress of little Bethany since August after her parents - Kimberley and Christopher, from Cranham Drive, Warndon - told us she was unable to return home as their flat was not big enough to accommodate her medical equipment.

The equipment she needed to keep her alive for one month took up a whole room in the Worcester Community Housing flat in Cranham Drive, Warndon, and Bethany had only been able to return home for three days since being born.

On Thursday morning, Kimberley and Christopher were called to Worcestershire Royal Hospital after Bethany started having trouble with her breathing.

As her health deteriorated they had to make the heartbreaking decision to turn her ventilator off.

Bethany died in her mother's arms at 6pm.
