Pershore 50pts, Keresley 3
PERSHORE returned to winning ways courtesy of Saturday's emphatic league success.
With a line-up that the players were comfortable with following some experimentation in previous weeks, Pershore produced an afternoon of terrific rugby.
Again the forwards laid the platform, with the scrummage strong and dynamic and an efficient and varied line-out saw them boss the visitors around all afternoon.
The backs enjoyed a glut of possession and their handling in wet conditions was excellent and the reward was eight tries with Ian Hurley's first setting the tone for the afternoon.
From a quick line-out, James Martin set up a quick ruck and the ball was sped to midfield where Hurley knocked over his centre, ran over the full back and touched down for a score all about strength and determination.
Tries followed from Martin, Kris Bassett, Martin Hope and Andy Jenkinson to leave winless Keresley shellshocked.
Pershore's play at times was magnificent as the forwards mixed up driving mauls and rucks, often putting together seven and eight phases of play and the visitors had no answer.
The second half saw much of the same with further scores from Matt Harwood, Lewis Dolphin and Toby Grace. Martin converted five of his team's tries.
Pershore introduced the experienced Levin Widmer and Andy Watson for their first starts of the season 20 minutes from time. That wasn't good news for Keresley who were subjected to more quality play as the Piddle Park men ended up convincing winners.
