THE August meeting was a workshop session at which members had a go at making an arrangement with whatever material was let loose by the opening of their randomly selected Pandora's Box. Diana Kiteley's arrangement was voted the winner, Ruth Bottomley's was in second place and Pat Kay's third.
Ruth Bottomley, chairman, welcomed members at the September meeting and referred to the recent death of Dr Elizabeth Mitchell, a founder member of the club. Angela Kovacevic, a close friend of Elizabeth for many years, gave a moving tribute, after which a short time of silent remembrance was observed.
The evening's demonstrator was Hazel Rudge, who gave a presentation of spectacular arrangements and hand-tied bouquets, using choice and colourful blooms and plenty of unusual foliage, all of which were prizes in the raffle.
Ruth gave a vote of thanks on our behalf. The competition, theme - September colour - was won by Lesley Venezis, with Ruth Bottomley as runner-up. Flower of the month was the dahlia brought by Gladys Lewis.
