MINDLESS vandals have left a trail of destruction in the town.
Last weekend Chawson was targeted by vandals who struck on four separate occasions.
One of the worst incidents saw youths throwing eggs near Copcut Court sheltered housing, off Celvestune Way. The incident happened at around 8.30pm last Saturday. The youths also targeted homes in Steynors Close.
Before the egg throwing incident a gang of yobs also pulled down a fence at the Pillar of Salt pub, again off Celvestune Way.
A resident of Steynors Close, who did not want to be named, said: "It seems as though groups of youths were on a rampage last weekend. We always get this trouble around this time of year and it's happening again."
Another incident saw vandals attack barriers and safety rope next to a dangerous wall between Colford Walk and Teesdale steps.
The safety measures have been put in place to prevent the wall from falling down and potentially hurting a passer-by. Over the weekend the safety rope at the site was cut.
Councillor John Cook (Lab-Droit West) said: "This is very dangerous. The wall could fall down and seriously hurt someone if the vandalism continues. They have nothing better to do with their time and are now starting to cause damage. It is very concerning."
Finally, over the same weekend, a brick wall in Celvestune Way was vandalised. The attack left the slabs on top of the wall smashed.
"We have seen four incidents of vandalism over the same weekend and it seems as though the problem is on the up because the dark nights are closing in," said Cllr Cook.
"People say youngsters have nothing better to do, but that is no excuse. Vandalism in Droitwich is not fair to rate payers and must be stopped.
"People are now concerned because these incidents have happened at the same time," added Cllr Cook.
The news comes after Droitwich Spa police appealed to shopkeepers in the town not to sell eggs to youngsters in the hope of preventing the problem.
A police spokesman said: "Following a number of incidents of anti-social behaviour in the Celvestune Way and Steynors Close area of Droitwich at the weekend, two youths and a girl were spoken to and given firm advice by police officers."
