Evesham 20pts, Woodrush 7
EVESHAM produced a workmanlike performance in atrocious conditions, to gain a vital league victory last Saturday.
Sensible rugby was the order of the day and that's exactly what gave the home side the result.
From the off, Evesham powered their visitors off the park. The pack showed some of their best form of the season with Chris Maritza at his rampaging best crossing for two bulldozing scores.
Scrum-half Chris Evis was relentless by producing punishing kicks time and again that pinned Woodrush deep in their own half.
After one such kick, the Evesham pack turned over possession and the
ball was spun to prop Maritza who found himself out on the wing where he rounded two players to score out wide.
Again Evesham were back in the Woodrush half but couldn't quite get a deserved score.
Encouraged, Woodrush tried to string some phases together but resolute defending kept them out before they finally crossed for a converted try.
This spurred Evesham back into life and a lovely piece of inter-play between Evis and Adam Huttlestone resulted in the latter scoring a great converted try.
A further Huttlestone penalty increased the lead, but Evesham weren't out of sight.
The second half was a bit of a drab affair, with Woodrush attempting to get back into the match only to find a determined home defence lying in wait.
The home side managed a further score when Maritza powered through three would-be tacklers to complete an excellent and controlled display by the Evesham team.

Evesham are in friendly action on Sat-urday when they visit Old Yardlians.
