Pershore 7, Chaddesley Corbett 0

RUSSELL Scudamore returned from a serious back operation to lead the goal feast at Prince Henry's High School last Saturday.

Chaddesley Corbett, fresh from a ten-goal victory the previous week, were without one of their star players but Pershore's dominance was complete and fully deserved.

Graeme Le D'bouy and Pete Powell played a controlling game from the back and mopped up the rare attacks with ease and it wasn't long before the deadlock was broken at the other end.

Scudamore was in dominant mood and latched on to loose balls and secured a first half hat-trick when Toby Whiting provided an unselfish pass just before half-time.

Richard Lisle's pace proved unstoppable and he combined well to create Pershore's best goal with Matt Hughes sweeping home with ease.

The same player netted two more before Scudamore added his fourth before the final whistle.

The winners entertain Ludlow this weekend and they will provide sterner opposition in the Coaching Solutions West Midlands League.

Market Drayton II 2, Pershore II 2

A GOAL at each end of the match was enough to secure a point.

Despite a horrendous journey and torrential rain throughout the whole game, the visitors deserved the draw and possibly more as they continued their determined start to the season.

A well-taken short corner routine saw Pete Boyce open the scoring early on but, despite further pressure, they failed to add to their tally.

After the break the balance of the match shifted, with Pershore on the back foot, although a dogged performance by their midfield quartet dragged them back into the game.

Poor finishing from a number of set-piece plays always left Market Drayton in with a chance of equalising. In fact the punishment was more dramatic and the hosts scored twice in quick succession.

Undeterred, Pershore streamed forward for an equaliser that arrived two minutes from time when Rob Smith finally converted from a short corner.

Walsall III 3, Pershore III 1

PERSHORE were unable to break down more physical opponents after a performance that augured well for the future.

Despite starting with ten men, Pershore were first to strike when good midfield play led to Liam Ridings netting with a strong shot.

This shocked the newly relegated hosts into action and Lee Wickersham was beaten by a deflected strike. More pressure followed but despite conceding again heads didn't drop and Pershore even managed to get the ball in the net again although the effort was immediately disallowed.

Neil Herman and Luke Dalley set up a solid foundation after the interval when the team sought a deserved equaliser.

However, Walsall's sweeper was exceptional and his presence helped nullify the tireless efforts of Chris Ridings, Martin Thomas and Graham Handley.

As the game drew to a conclusion Pershore pressed harder, gambling for a share of the spoils but the luck never came and another breakaway goal for Walsall lent an unfair tilt to the final scoreline.
