RESIDENTS who are working to tackle acts of anti-social behaviour could be in with a chance of winning cash to improve their neighbourhood.
Redditch police, council and community safety partnership have joined forces to promote the Taking A Stand Awards 2005.
The awards, which come with a £1,000 prize, recognise individuals and groups who are concentrating on beating yob behaviour such as intimidation, rubbish dumping, graffiti and vandalism.
A total of 500 local heroes from around the country are being sought.
The new anti-social behaviour co-ordinator for the North Worcestershire division, Pc Andy Holliday, said: "We feel it is important to encourage people to stand up and take action against any unacceptable behaviour that affects the quality of their day-to-day life. We feel these awards are ideal for rewarding their commitment, energy and courage in doing so."
He added: "It would be fantastic to see a winner from Redditch this year and we would urge anyone with a nomination to get in touch."
Anyone wishing to nominate an individual or group can call Pc Holliday at on 08457 444 888 or email andrew.holliday@westmercia.pnn.police.uk
