THOUGHTFUL pupils at St Bede's Middle School gave up their lunch for the day to raise cash for youngsters living in poverty.
Year Eight students at the Holloway Lane school held a lunchtime fast on Friday to raise money for the Make Poverty History campaign.
Later the school held a fundraising raffle where the top prizes were meals from Kentucky Fried Chicken.
A school spokesman said: "This was to contrast the difference between the western world and Third World poverty.
"We are delighted that our pupils have responded so positively to the Make Poverty History campaign not only in their desire to be more knowledgeable but take an active part."
