THE autumn is always a busy time for the choir. This year's proms concert was held earlier than usual, on October 1. It was as lively as ever with the choir's programme ranging from Bizet to Lionel Bart and Les Miserables to The Vicar of Dibley.
This year's guests were the very long-established Alcester Victoria Silver Band, whose talented players include young people still at school as well as their grandparents' generation. The concert was well-supported and will again have raised a substantial sum for the Primrose Hospice and Cancer Help Centre.
The choir can now begin working on the Christmas programme ready for the next public concert on December 15 at Rocklands Social Club in Redditch. In fact, the choir has a rolling programme with new pieces continually added while earlier pieces are kept polished. It is a very broad repertoire so the choir can perform at many different functions from the solemnity of funerals to the very light-hearted Christmas party.
The choir would welcome bookings from any organisation, society or private group. It can be available morning, afternoon or evening and the arrangements and programme can be tailored to suit individual circumstances. To discuss possible bookings, call the musical director on 546158. The choir's profits are always donated to the Primrose Hospice and Cancer Help Centre.
