THE group held its meeting on September 22 in Wythall Village Hall.
Members and visitors were welcomed by Sue Barnard, the vice chairman.
Sue thanked everyone who made the carnival cake stall such a resounding success. The total money taken was £244. This was far more than any previous year. Thanks were due to the hard work of Miriam Knowles and her family, the helpers on the day and also to the members who supplied the huge number of cakes. The raffle was also a great success. It was a magnificent effort and a good result.
A cheque for £35 has been sent to Breakthrough Breast Care as our annual charity donation for 2004-5.
Sue also announced that the lists for our pre-Christmas shopping trip to Boundary Mills Retail Park and also Christmas Meal at Baddesley Clinton would be open now. Members are asked to pay £5 deposit for each.
Sue announced that Wythall Theatre Company will be putting on a production of a light-hearted farce entitled Kindly Keep It Covered at Kingsley Theatre, Redditch, from November 9-12. If anyone would like to go from the group, June Carrington will book tickets for Thursday, November 10.
Sue then appealed to the membership for a new secretary as Ann Wilson, our present secretary, is to move to Edinburgh in the near future.
As there was no further business, Sue introduced Bill and Ann Wilson, who gave a talk and slide show of their holiday in Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. After the evening's entertainment members enjoyed tea, cakes and a chat.
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 27 at Wythall Village Hall, when the talk and demonstration entitled Going Crackers will be given by Sally Hayward.
