BOYS from the Evesham club's junior section put in some outstanding performances at last Saturday's Long Distance Sculling Head at Wallingford.
A host of star names gathered for the event which is used by the top clubs to assess performances for the coming season.
Heavy rain made conditions uncomfortable and, with 550 crews on the water, the river quickly became gridlocked with single scull competitors having to wait for two hours on the water before the start of their races!
Evesham's star turn was Will Tew who sculled to victory in the J15 Single Sculls in a time of 16 minutes and 15 seconds over the 4,000m course.
Oli Staite, who won gold in the J15 Single Sculls at the Evesham Junior Head, wasn't far behind despite picking up a steering penalty he finished in 16.22.
Tom Walker, rowing at J16, also suffered a steering penalty that left him sixth out of 41 competitors in 16.08.
In the J18 Single Sculls, Ali Gregory achieved fifth place (15.20) against a strong field of 59 competitors, including rowers at national level.
Tom Most followed in 11th in 15.43 with the pair claiming overall finishes of 33rd and 59th respectively out of a field of 380.
The next day, the club's veteran duo of Teresa Roberts and Tina Bonham swept to victory at Worcester's Head.
With a time of 17.43.96 over the 4,000m course, the Veteran B women were well ahead of their rivals from Stourport who came in nearly three minutes adrift.
