THERE was a crisp start to the latest meeting at Throckmorton CPSC but the weather was fair and conditions were ideal for the Skeet Handicap Trophy.
John Boraston was the early morning leader and dropped only one bird on the first card. However, by mid-morning, Dave Barnfield had taken over top spot by the third card with a perfect score.
He attempted to hold on to the lead with a second perfect score on the fifth card, but it wasn't long until Roy Spooner achieved a perfect score on the sixth to make him the overall winner.
In the Down the Line discipline, no straight scores were recorded but competition was still intense.
Gary Shewell began the day well but, by card three, junior Simon Jones had claimed pole position only for Stuart Emms to match that tally.
By the ninth card, the competition was hotting up with Wes Brown just missing out leaving Rebecca Sealey to prove to her counterparts that she was the better shooter of the day.
The English Sporting Targets saw Sealey, Adam Barnfield and Dave Lindup among the first to top the 50 mark but Jones wasn't to miss out this time and he claimed the honours with a score of 57.
