A PLANNING appeal has been lodged following Wychavon District Council's refusal to allow Bevere Gardens to include storage of cars at its nursery.
The owners thought the plan for an area formerly occupied by greenhouses would not be a problem as the use of the land is already commercial.
But the council argued that the character and appearance of the conservation area of Bevere would be affected. The applicant felt the visual impact would be minimal.
A statement in the appeal said: "We have run the nursery at Bevere for 40 years and have no wish to cause any harmful impact.
"The nursery specialises in conifer plants and we are at a stage in our lives where the running of the nursery has to be scaled down.
"The local garage needs temporary space for car storage and the site can provide this.
"We are quite happy to accept planning permission of no more than five years because there are other brick barn structures on the site they might wish to bring into use in the future."
The Planning Inspectorate will make a ruling next month.
