A WOODLAND area in Worcestershire is being used to help people keep healthy and learn some new skills.
The Forestry Commission's Discovery Centre in the Wyre Forest is the focus for a range of fun and fitness activities this autumn.
Every Sunday and Tuesday until October 30, visitors of all abilities can join a trained leader for a relaxed guided walk through the Wyre Forest.
The walks are ideal for improving fitness, promoting a healthier lifestyle and enjoyment from exercise. People can meet at the visitor centre, two miles from Bewdley, on the A456 at 10.30am for an 11am start. The walks are free and there is no need to book.
On Thursday, October 13 and 20, the centre is organising a pre-school club called Forest Friends for children and their parents or carers.
A different activity from craft workshops to wildlife-themed games is planned each week. Lasting about an hour, it costs £1.50 per child. No booking is required.
The Wyre Forest centre is inviting people to have a go at wool dyeing on Saturday, October 15. People can try using nature's paint box of berries, leaves, flowers and fungi to dye hanks of plain wool to create colours. Participants are advised to wear old clothes. The cost is £2 for adults and £1 for children and the event is suitable for anyone aged six and over.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Advanced booking is required for activities. Call 01299 266929 to reserve a place.
