MALVERN United Angling Association held their AGM and prize-giving at the Newtown Club, Malvern Link.

The evening was very well attended by members new and old.

Chairman Phil Harding thanked the committee for their efforts over the past season, especially Ian Goddard. who after several years of excellent service as match secretary has decided to hang up his drawbag to concentrate on his own fishing.

The members echoed the chairmans words when he said he would be a hard act to follow.

The chairman also said that the past year had been one of the busiest for the club after acquiring another stretch of the Severn at Holdfast. Lots of effort has been put in already to make every one of the 23 pegs fishable, and it would still require a lot of hard work between now and June 16.

With the club now boasting a variety of venues on Severn, Avon and a stillwater, he hoped that the club would continue to attract members and go from strength to strength.

In the light of the extra commitments the club has taken on like the new venue, the committee put forward a motion that the subscriptions be raised for adults and senior citizens from £23 to £25 and £8 to £10 respectively.

The committee felt that this still represented good value for money with the amount of water available to members, and this was passed unanimously. Ladies and juniors subs will remain the same at £5.

After the business, the trophies were presented to winners by lady member Rhona Busby and a buffet provided by the committee was enjoyed.

Thanks go to the Newtown Club for the use of the venue.
