THE Malvern United Angling Association held its junior cup competition last saturday on the pool at Mathon.
The fishing was good with all competitors managing to catch some fish despite the wind and rain. With a mixture of beginners and more experienced juniors it was an interesting contest with more than just the usual heaviest catch to fish for.
Connor Hill won the trophy with an excellent 7-8-0 which included a good carp of 4-4-0 and one of a smaller size taken on the pole. Connor walked away with a carbon bleak whip kindly donated by a member of the club.
First time visitor to the pool was Chris Raffaelli who was unlucky to lose one carp early on but managed to land another weighing 3-6-0 to take the runners-up spot.
In third place was another new member Dan Morris who opted for a lighter approach taking twelve small roach and skimmers for 1-5-0.
Other placings were: 4 Terry Gorman 1-1-0, 5 James Mitchell 0-11-0, joint 6 Shaun Gorman and Ricky Gorman 0-4-0.
Other tackle prize winners were:
Most fish caught: Terry Gorman (18 fish).
Biggest fish caught: Connor Hill (4-4-0).
First fish caught: Terry Gorman.
