FAYE Berry, the 14-year-old equestrian protege who lives near Clifton upon Teme, has qualified two ponies to compete at the biggest ever Horse of the Year Show.
Faye, who lives at the Clifton upon Teme hunt kennels with her parents, will be riding Havenstreet Sweet Sensation in the Balanced Horse Feeds Mountain and Moorland Working Hunter Pony of the Year, and Willoway Applejack in the Blue Chip Junior Newcomers show jumping championship.
Faye qualified on Havenstreet at the New Forest Show in her debut showing performance earlier this summer and Willoway Jack at Gracelands, near Droitwich.
"It is the first time I have entered a qualifying show and I was amazed to win it. To be competing at the Horse of the Year Show on not one but two horses is a dream come true for me. Even if I don't win it's a privilege just to take part," said Faye, whose mentors are Tim Stockdale and Anna Austin. "I have always wanted to jump at the show and to have two ponies competing is fabulous."
Faye is a pupil at Chantry High School in Martley. She says her teachers have been extremely supportive and have allowed her time off to attend the five day show, which starts on Wednesday, October 12 and ends on Sunday, October 16.
More than 150,000 competitors set out each year to try and earn one of the coveted 1,500 places at the show. For full details visit www.hoys.co.uk
