BBC Hereford & Worcester's Howard Bentham will tomorrow be joining a team of local radio presenters in a special edition of BBC One's Test The Nation quiz.
Howard, breakfast show presenter on BBC Hereford & Worcester, will face the acerbic wit of Anne Robinson and her friendly foil Phillip Schofield as he joins his team to see if they can top the studio poll. Test The Nation takes as its theme the RAW (Reading and Writing) campaign that the BBC will be running for the next three years. Its aim is to help the UK's 12 million people who struggle with everyday reading and writing, encouraging them to take steps to improve their skills.
The quiz will be looking at everything from spelling and grammar to literature questions, from Shakespeare to slang, to see whose skills are up to scratch.
The local radio presenters, representing nearly all of the BBC's 40-plus stations across the UK, will compete against teams including 40 surgeons and 40 ballroom dancers, to see who takes the studio title.
More celebrity faces, including BBC Radio 4 Today programmes John Humphrys, will be getting in on the act to test their knowledge.
The audience can pit their own wits against the studio guests too, playing interactively through the red button or just with paper and pen, or try out their knowledge with an online quiz at bbc.co.uk/testthenation in one of the biggest live television events of the year.
