IT PAYS to recycle, and one Worcester woman has the cash to prove it.
Households are being encouraged to go green and be in with a chance of winning a £100 cash prize by recycling their rubbish.
Barbara Balchin, of Thames Close, Ronkswood, Worcester, was one of four winners who reaped the rewards of being environmentally friendly.
Nicola Bird, of Droitwich; Eileen Tasker, of Stourport-on-Severn, and Ian Smith, of Bromsgrove, were also winners.
The scheme is one of 50 recycling incentives being tried out all over the UK. Some households will be offered shopping vouchers or entered into lotteries.
Worcestershire County Council is running prize draws to encourage residents to carry on recycling.
There are special tickets inside newsletters, which go to every house with a roadside collection. Residents fill in their details and waste management collect the tickets,.which are picked from a hat to win £100.
