A community safety day attracted nearly 400 people to Upton Memorial Hall.
One lucky youngster rode away on a new bike after correctly identifying the villain at a mocked-up crime scene.
Older visitors discovered the benefits of joining neighbourhood watch schemes, with many inspired to set up their own.
Other activities at the event, on Saturday (October 1), included the chance to chat to a talking car named Robee, an expert on road safety.
Children designed their own patterns and logos to liven up their skateboard and bike helmets. Some tested their customised gear on mobile skate ramps, while others indulged their creative side by making puppets from recycled rubbish.
Organiser Jenny Lawrence, Malvern Hills community safety partnership manager, said she was pleased the profile of community safety had been raised.
"We talked to many people about home security and we've received excellent feedback regarding the event," she said.
The community safety day was such as success that similar events are being planned. The next will be in Malvern on Saturday, January 21.
